Musical Comedy Adaptation. In a cash panic during the 1850's Free Banking Era, Wall Street banker Gideon Bloodgood callously destroys a stranger's family in order to secure a fortune for his own. The repercussions of one opportunistic white-collar crime plunge Bloodgood and his daughter into a world of wealth, power, blackmail, kidnapping, arson and attempted murder.
